Magnolia Villa

This home office with en suite bath and wet bar remodel began as a garage attic. This shows the custom designed cherry wood desk and credenza area and the top of the new stairway that was added in the foyer. In order to create the space needed we had to open the attic above the garage and reinforce the trusses. A new L shaped stairway was added off of the foyer where the coat closet was once located.  We also added 3 windows to bring in natural light, one double window on the front, one beside the wet bar, and one in the new bath.

The home owner fell in love with the Brazilian cherry wood flooring and wanted to use this in the new office. Because the flooring in the downstairs was oak we had to come up with a solution to make the transition. We used oak treads on the stairs and custom mixed the stain for each tread and slowly took them to a darker, redder tone once you reach the top of the stairs.

The desk was crafted by an artisan in Sevierville from the design and elevation that we drew after speaking with the home owner about what their work style is and how much storage space they will need and if they had any special requirements. One of the special needs they had was to be able to hold small conferences in the office. We needed a large amount of workspace on the desk also. So we incorporated the conference table into the desk by adding a circular corner area with knee space and voila we have a conference area and because it is located close to the computer station it also makes presentations a breeze.

We used a Baltic brown granite in the bathroom on the vanity and repeated that same granite on the wet bar and the stairway half wall. We mixed slate and emperador marble in the corner shower to bring all the color selections together.

We continued the soft creamy paint color from the downstairs foyer and added a snappy rusty red in the bath. We used both of these colors in the window treatments. We have 2” wood blinds in the windows to cut down on the heat fluctuation in the room so the draperies are nonfunctioning.
