I love this kitchen!!! With the different color stain finishes on the custom cabinets we created a feeling of collected furnishings that is characteristic of Country French style or European style interiors. It is the perfect way to get color, style and that warm cozy feeling of generations of family treasures. This island is what every busy mom needs. After school snacks, no problem they are in the cabinet drawers along with juice in the small bar refrigerator, and a microwave drawer will quickly have everyone eating popcorn while they finish that pesky homework. It is out of the way of mom in the kitchen and provides her the space to prepare dinner while being involved in family time. The custom butcher-block wood top was created by a local wood working artisan in Knoxville and gives the family a nice warm feeling in the eating area and matches the one in the kitchen preparation area.
This dining room renovation put all the existing space to good use. Before the room was small and had a large opening from the foyer, a wall of windows, and another door to the kitchen that was located in the middle of another wall. This left only one location for a china hutch and that cramped the space made having a large table for dining impossible. We created a focal point by making the kitchen entrance a deep open arch for the doorway, double sided cabinets with seeded glass doors and shelves, columns on either side of the cabinets with led back lighting in the ceiling and floor to wash the column with light. The cabinets have drawers with dowels for plate storage, felt lined and slotted utensil storage, and space to display crystal and china, so we were then able to use the one unbroken wall for a larger server and more storage. The shape of the bay window makes a round table a comfortable choice for this dining room. As you enter from the foyer you can now see into the welcoming kitchen. This home now has an open floor plan from the front door to the back door.
